Here are some “tid-bits” regarding the recent PSW District LWML Convention held on June 11-13 in Tempe, AZ. Five members of St. Paul attended: Dolores Charlesworth, Daisy Chyzy, Anita Norgren, Delores Townsend, Rose Tressler There were 545 in attendance at the Friday evening Worship/Communion Service. Our District president, Rev. Larry Stotereau spoke at the Service and emphasized our need to be outwardly focused. He stated that 80% of our churches are plateaued or declining. “We need to look for ways to get the church into the communities. Being “mission- directed” begins in the heart of God, centers on Jesus Christ, is empowered by the Holy Spirit to and for everyone. This is our mission, “It is my mission and it is urgent.”(words by Rev. Stotereau) The offering on Friday evening of $3,500 was applied to the Stamps for Mission grants. There were 425 persons registered for the Convention. The “in- gathering” that each LWML was asked to contribute to resulted in $7,842 going to Lutheran Social Services in addition to numerous grocery cards of unknown value given to them also the 21 Zone Banner quilts plus 56 extra quilts were given to LSS. Inspirational Bible studies were led by Lois Silorski and up-lifting music during the Convention sessions led by Pr. Mike Zehnder. |
